PTI Accuses Authorities of ‘Fascism’ After Imran Khan’s Sisters Allegedly Manhandled Outside Adiala Jail
Islamabad, Nov 19 (The Deccan Times): The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly condemned what it called the “worst example of fascism” after former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sisters were allegedly manhandled, dragged, and detained by police outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi earlier this week.
During a press conference in Karachi, PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh alleged that Imran Khan’s sisters — Noreen Khan and Aleema Khan — were subjected to “severe cruelty” when they arrived for a scheduled weekly visit with their imprisoned brother, local media outlet The Express Tribune reported.
“They were abducted and dumped elsewhere,” claims PTI
Sheikh accused the police of violating the Constitution and basic human dignity.
“They were abducted, taken away, and later dumped far from the location,” he claimed.
“A sister visiting her brother and being mistreated like this reflects the state’s fear and moral bankruptcy.”
The PTI leader further alleged that the recent 26th and 27th constitutional amendments had “buried the Constitution” and eroded rule of law in Pakistan. He announced that PTI Sindh would hold nationwide protests on November 21 under the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) in collaboration with allied parties.
PTI says weekly visit was denied despite court orders
Earlier in the week, PTI workers staged a protest outside Adiala Jail after authorities refused to allow family members or party workers to meet Imran Khan. The party then held a sit-in, accusing jail officials of defying a court-mandated visitation order.
In a statement on X, PTI said:
“Police violently detained Imran Khan's sisters — Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, and Uzma Khan — while they sat peacefully outside Adiala Jail after being denied their weekly visit.”
The party claimed that several leaders, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Minister Meena Khan Afridi, MNAs Shahid Khattak, and multiple women workers, were also subjected to violence and taken into custody.
Videos show chaos outside jail
PTI released videos on X showing supporters gathered around a visibly shaken Noreen Khan, with Aleema Khan alleging that police officers had dragged her sister on the road.
“Those women were dragging her,” Aleema said.
In another video, Noreen described how she was pulled by the hair and pushed to the ground.
“I didn’t understand it. I still don’t understand what happened,” she said, adding that PTI workers had been sitting peacefully outside the jail.
The party alleges that the women waited for hours for their scheduled meeting before being denied entry.
The situation has reignited political tensions as Pakistan continues to grapple with legal battles involving Imran Khan and his supporters.
